Who Are We?
The Anguilla Tennis Academy (ATA), founded in 1996, is a non
profit organization that provides year round tennis training to
Anguillan children with special emphasis on empowering children
through the sport of tennis. The ATA attempts to improve the lives
of children who have few resources. To date, over 1,200 children
have benefited from the ATA programs.
Our
Mission
The Anguilla Tennis
Academy is dedicated to providing the
highest quality tennis instruction to Anguillan, Caribbean
and International youth in a competitive environment while
encouraging exemplary sportsmanship. We also strive: to make
tennis athletic scholarships available for children who excel in
the training programs; to foster long lasting friendships through
our cultural exchange and outreach programs; to promote a
strong sense of community by recruiting and hiring graduates
of the ATA to return as tennis coaches; to establish professional
relationships with other local, regional, and international tennis
programs.
Our Philosophy
• The primary goal of
the Anguilla Tennis Academy
is to expose
children to the joys, discipline and rigor of the life long sport of
tennis where they can acquire technical skills, experience ideal
sportsmanship and develop a strong sense of community.
• The Anguilla Tennis Academy
is committed to developing
healthy minds and providing educational opportunities
for children through the sport of tennis. The academy was
founded on the principle of using tennis as a vehicle to reach
and empower children and to equip them with the skills and
knowledge to become responsible citizens of their community.
• It is the belief of the Anguilla
Tennis Academy
that all children
should have the opportunity to learn the game regardless of
economic status. The Academy provides high quality affordable
programs and ensures that no child is denied access or the
opportunity to participate.
• The program encourages
an active healthy lifestyle that children
will be able to incorporate into their everyday lives. The Anguilla
Tennis Academy
will help build valuable life skills for children,
including work ethic, competitiveness, sportsmanship, and
teamwork. Participants will be able to establish relationships
and share experiences with other athletes through this program.
• The Anguilla Tennis
Academy will provide a
nurturing
environment where children will learn how apply the principles
of sacrifice, work, courage, and service towards building
a successful life and becoming ambassadors of the sport
of tennis.
What Does The ATA Do?
• The ATA conducts a year round After School Tennis Program.
We currently have over 80 children enrolled. All the coaches are
former students of the ATA program.
• During the summer, the ATA conducts a large summer
camp.
Each year there are over 200 participants. The ATA flies in top
coaches from the world to help the children grow in the sport.
• We are currently
engaged in the building of a state of the art
facility for the children valued at USD $4,000,000.
How Do We Do
It?
The ATA uses funds from
various sources to run its programs.
The funds for the new facility come from private donors and
businesses—people can choose to get involved with the capital
campaign, buy a brick campaign, or just make a donation.
The After School Program is assisted by a government grant of
EC $50,000 per year. The children also pay a small monthly fee to
keep the program running and so that the coaches can be paid.
Also, Wilson
sporting goods sponsors us with supplies and we
receive support from local businesses. We also have dedicated
people and coaches in the community always ready to volunteer
when needed.
Come be a part of
our family by getting
involved and help
us build the facility.
