The ITF upgraded the 4th Anguilla Cup to a Grade 3 event, the first and only event of its kind in the Caribbean.  The decision was made based on the recommendation of the ITF Supervisor, who gave a glowing report on the outstanding facilities at the Anguilla Tennis Academy and the smooth organization of the 2018 Anguilla Cup event.

The upgrade enabled the tournament to attract more participants, playing at a higher level, for a bigger and more prestigious event. Mary Joe Fernandez, former WTA world-ranked #4 player and Olympic gold medalist conducted a FREE tennis clinic for the children on Sunday, November 3, 2019.  Many children from the ATA After School Program and interested children from various schools on the island participated in the children’s clinic.  The children enjoyed the clinic and were appreciative of the inspiring words she shared with them.  Mary Joe also took photos and signed autographs with the participants and praised Mr. Mitchelle Lake, Founder or the ATA for the outstanding work he and his team has done with providing opportunities for children through the sport of tennis.
